About O.B. Villeneuve Insurance
O.B. Villeneuve Insurance Brokers Limited is a third generation brokerage
firm established in Ottawa in 1908 and has been providing insurance products
and services for Eastern Ontario and Western Quebec for over ninety years. The
business was founded by the late Osios Benjamin Villeneuve (O.B.). He started
his business on Sparks Street in 1908 and then moved to Elgin Street in the
early 1920's. In 1935 the business moved to 302 Waverley Street where it was
operated out of the family home until 1988.
In the late 1940's, O.B.'s eldest son Edward joined the company and then in the
mid-1950's his younger son Oscar Benjamin (Ben) joined the company.
In 1972 Ben's son Robert Villeneuve joined the company followed soon after by
Robert's younger brother Barry Villeneuve. In 1980, Mr. Barry Halliday invested
in the business and became a partner.
In 1988, Robert Villeneuve, Barry Villeneuve and Barry Halliday, who still
operated the business from the family home at 302 Waverley Street, sold this
property and built their new building at 370 Churchill Avenue, Ottawa, Ontario,
from which the office still operates.
In 1995 Barry Halliday sold his shares of the company to Paul Sheldon and later
that year Paul Sheldon and Robert Villeneuve purchased the shares of Robert's
younger brother Barry.
